This album design was inspired by musical artist Joji’s album Nectar, released in 2020. I wanted to maintain the color scheme of Joji’s original album design with deep black and electric red, as it also properly reflects the energy of the album being a deep soulful, yet at times emotionally distraught journey for the artist. The challenge for designing the piece was that I could only use type for the album cover and decided to play with negative space as a means of having the red highlights feel more along the lines of neon lights.
