This album design was inspired by alternative-pop singer Lorde, and her second album Melodrama. The challenge with this design was that I was assigned to only use type as the primary design element for the album cover, and chose to go with a style I felt reflected the handwritten quality of a songwriter. A recurring theme within the album is also that of singer Lorde’s synesthesia; where she sees color according to sounds she is hearing. I wanted to reflect this electricity within color that she explores so well in her album, that I decided to go with a very colorful cover and add a sheer element to the type to create an electric appearance.
